Ancient Counties?[edit]

Why is this information being organized by ancient(historic) county rather than present day? ~Geaugagrrl talk 21:56, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, indeed! This is an anachronism and out of kilt with our other lists. It needs revising. I'll make a start, but the problem is that boundaries have changed - especially Denbighshire, Flintshire and Monmouthshire - so it's not a straightforward task, especially as only grid references are given for some of them. If I sort out the obvious maybe the creator of the list could sort out the remainder? Enaidmawr (talk) 19:51, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think I've managed to sort them all except Glamorgan and Monmouthshire (no locations given for some others, e.g. Denbighshire, so I can't say whether the statement "X windmills in Fooshire" is correct or not). Enaidmawr (talk) 20:04, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I ordered them by historic county as they were in the historic counties when built. This is covered by WP:PLACE, where it states that if an article covers a period in history then it is OK to use historic names. I'd prefer them to be by historic counties as that is what sources used go by. Mjroots (talk) 20:52, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
They might have been in the former counties when they were built, but they are in the modern counties today, and that's what counts. This is not about 'a period of history' so the guideline found at WP:PLACE is not relevant here: this is a 'List of windmills in Wales'. The ordering by modern counties and county boroughs is also in line with our other Wales lists. Enaidmawr (talk) 22:12, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is completely ludicrous to order this list by historic county. This information should be organized by present day boundaries. Completely agree with the points made by Enaidmawr. ~Geaugagrrl talk 05:10, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Isn't this better placed in Clwyd? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 14:54, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
