Request for Comment[edit]

A page similar to this one. List of people from San Francisco, is currently under review as an article for deletion, for reasons which would apply to this article as well. I am conducting an RfC on the talk page of the above-mentioned list to determine whether the concensus agrees on keeping such lists or not. Any and all comments are more than welcome. Orphaned references in List of people from Houston[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of people from Houston's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Distinguished":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 06:40, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Poorly sourced[edit]

As usual, this list article of notable people is poorly sourced. It has been tagged for this since 2017. In addition, it makes several dubious claims. People from Spring, Katy, and Cypress are not from Houston. As the article says this is for people who have lived in Houston, not in the Houston area. Oldsanfelipe2 (talk) 17:14, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed (wholeheartedly). I try to fend off new additions if they're unsourced (even when the subject's WP article has the refs available on it), as this list should at least not get any worse. My idea is to add refs and throw out unsubstantiable entries "as convenient", but realistically, I'll never do the whole page by myself. So if you (or anybody) see somebody who's (say) only from Katy, feel free to delete them mercilessly. If somebody wants to add somebody to the list, it's up to them to provide a reference citation. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 22:54, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
