Notability[edit]

I have tagged the article for notability. I think the Hollywood Ten are definitely notable (thought there is no separate article about them yet), but I wonder if their films as a body of work are. Is there significant coverage of their films as a whole - for example, detecting, or trying to detect, communism in them? I haven't found anything. StAnselm (talk) 11:40, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There are a lot of films by them that aren't about communism or anti-fascism. And yes, many articles about the Hollywood Ten are (also) about their films. This won't be hard to source. The only question is how should I cite film credits, if not to IMDB? Seraphim System (talk) 17:44, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@StAnselm: Let me rephrase this. There is development from their careers - some of the first movies these men are credited with seem to be standard romance type films - but I haven't watched them. Those films may have been reviewed by law enforcement and the committee as well. But they were not only under investigation for party affiliation, but for the content of their films. This is covered in many sources that discuss HUAC. I have added several to the lead already, and will add more. Can I take down the notability template now? Most likely, there are enough sources for a stand-alone article about the films, but I am not sure how many sources would be appropriate here to justify notability of a list. I can keep expanding the lead, but I don't think it should be too long. Seraphim System (talk) 19:36, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if it would be better to have a list of "suspicious" films, or something like that. It's hard to see the relevance of MASH here, since it was made in 1970. Or perhaps we should just have an article on the Hollywood Ten, and include a partial list (e.g. before 1955) of their films. StAnselm (talk) 21:31, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not opposed to limiting the list to films that were made prior to the blacklist. Seraphim System (talk) 11:15, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
