Article title[edit]

This probably ought to be moved to a less awkward title. Maybe List of men's college basketball coaches by number of wins. Something like that, I dunno. Suggestions? Microtonal 19:08, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why isn't Roy Williams of UNC listed on the list of coaches by win? He has over 700 wins with Kansas and UNC. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.54.150.2 (talk) 15:58, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He has 595 wins, not 700+. See Roy Williams (coach). Ryan2845 (talk) 18:32, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Don Meyer[edit]

Who the hell took Don Meyer off the list??? He has the most NCAA men's basketball wins with 922, he will be retiring after his final game Feb. 27, 2010. --Atilla5 (talk) 05:21, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Errors?[edit]

Unless I'm missing something, there are a few errors in the list. Shouldn't Gary Williams be ahead of Tom Penders?

Also, Ken Anderson, Cam Henderson, and Dick Reynolds are all tied in number of wins, but Anderson is listed as #42 and Henderson and Reynolds are tied at #43. They're listed in order of winning %, but why would one be considered ahead and the other two tied? Should be either all three are tied or none are, right?

Dick Whitmore and Steve Moore look like they are many places lower than their number of wins indicate. Strikehold (talk) 21:07, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Correct on all points. Should be accurate now. Cbl62 (talk) 21:18, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Somehow John Wooden is not on this list 🤣 174.204.6.31 (talk) 04:03, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stew Morrill should be on list approaching 600 wins he is at 581 ahead of Calipari — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.145.151.91 (talk) 15:57, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Don Meyer[edit]

Someone has removed him again.. Anyone know why?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbl62 (talkcontribs) 14:54, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No clue. There have been quite a few malicious or misguided edits lately. Meyer needs to be readded, and people need to stop giving Coach K 904 wins. BillyBreen (talk) 21:08, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ralph Miller had over 600 wins at Division I schools, but not shown with highlighting on page.[edit]

I believe Ralph Miller's name should be highlighted to show that he had over 600 wins in Division I.

220 wins at the University of Wichita (now Wichita State U.)
    +95 wins at Iowa.
   +359 wins at Oregon State.

Tot= 674 division I wins. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.233.106.101 (talk) 23:38, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Done. Wichita State has been in the Missouri Valley Conference since 1946. The MVC became a part of the University Division at the time of the NCAA's first divisional split in 1956. In turn, this means that Miller's wins while there should be classified as D-I wins, since the University Division is the direct predecessor to today's D-I. — Dale Arnett (talk) 19:26, 16 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Coach K[edit]

Someone defaced the page and removed Coach K's table entry. Grow up! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.100.23.77 (talk) 05:28, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

More Errors?[edit]

Entering this season, I have Dave Holmquist with 947 wins (921), Glenn Robinson with 930 (912), Larry Holley with 886 (876), and Rollie Massimino with 816 (800). These numbers are consistent with the four coaches' Wikipedia pages and/or athletic site biographies. AJC3fromS2K (talk) 05:54, 15 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Keith Dickson? Saint Anselm?[edit]

Keith Dickson (Saint Anselm) is missing on this list. 2601:18D:8A01:29D0:3D97:51D9:EE14:8C7D (talk) 02:22, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I Corrected a Bunch of Active/Inactive Coaching Designations (asterisks) as of the 2021-22 season[edit]

Before the corrections, the following coaches were listed as the present coaches at their respective universities, but were not designated as active: Pitino, Few, Calipari, Self, Ridder, Schmidt, Elders, Klusman, Lambert, Altman, Shovlain, Sampson, Larranaga, Jenkins, Few, Sherman, (Tubby) Smith, Alford McKillop, Pearl, Neinaber, Corino

The following retired coaches were designated as active: (Jim) Smith, Spirou, Drew, Anderson, Nelson, Nicholson, Morrill, Murphy, (Tom) Smith, Bruehl, Steele, Matthews, Boots

I acted under the assumption that any coach with a "-present" under their years of tenure was, in fact, still active. Someone may want to check to make sure I didn't make any mistakes. Thanks AJC3fromS2K (talk) 13:35, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I corrected several that I initially missed (Allen, Tarkanian, Stewart, Hays, Hunter, Sauers, Bridges) AJC3fromS2K (talk) 13:44, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
