Welsh Lions players in bold?[edit]

Do you think it would be a good idea for Welsh players who have played for the British Lions to have their names in bold in this list? – PeeJay 22:18, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure, it wouldn't be searchable. It's always good to add more info, but then should we add Triple Crown winners? It's an interseting path to follow. FruitMonkey (talk) 22:24, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe Lions in bold and Triple Crown winners in italics. Or are we getting silly now? – PeeJay 22:31, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It could be workable. But I would like to see all the rugby nations adopt the same player list template, should be throw it out to the wider community before ploughing ahead and getting pulled back, ...I'm sure I've done that before.FruitMonkey (talk) 22:34, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Questions[edit]

Good list guys. A couple of questions though:
* #519 Wendy Davies – is that a nickname, a man's given name, are female players included on this list or is there some other explanation?
* Are #460 Bryn Evans and #468 Bryn Evans the same player?
* Are #246 William Evans and #280 William Evans the same player?
* Are #685 Bill Morris and #697 Bill Morris the same player?
* Are #306 Wick Powell and #406 Wick Powell the same player?
* Are #578 Billy Williams and # 581 Billy Williams the same player? Thanks, Daicaregos (talk) 12:53, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Wendy Davies is a nickname, William Edward Norman Davis, known by all as Wendy.
  • The two Bryn Evans are different people, Brinley Evans, known as Bryn Evans was a Llanelli boy, Daniel Brinley Evans known as Bryn Evans played for Swansea.
  • William George Evans (246) was a dual-code international, William Henry Evans (280) was a Rhondda boy.
  • William James Bunce 'Bill' Morris (685) was a Pontypool player and cousin of John Morris, Baron Morris of Aberavon, while William John 'Bill' Morris (697) was a solicitor who toured South Africa with the Barbarians and played club for Newport.
  • Wickham James 'Wick' Powell (306), captained Cardiff in 1919-1920, William Charles 'Wick' Powell (406) was an architect who captained London Welsh.
  • William Owen Gooding Williams (actually better known as 'Stoker' Williams rather than Billy) played for Wales and the Lions, while William Arthur 'Billy' Williams (581) was a Newport Scrum-half.

I'll make the necessary changes if the names link to the same player. FruitMonkey (talk) 15:47, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Appreciate you clearing those up. Cheers, Daicaregos (talk) 19:39, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Intro[edit]

The current lead states: "List of Wales national rugby union players is a list of rugby union players who have represented the Wales national rugby union team." Could we try to find a more accurate way to express this? The players would not have represented the Wales national rugby union team, they would have represented Wales. Perhaps: "List of Wales national rugby union players is a list of players who have represented Wales at rugby union." Thoughts? Daicaregos (talk) 12:03, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Change effected, as no opposition noted. Daicaregos (talk) 16:58, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
