Merger[edit]

As I became frustrated with the number of different pages containing different records and such, I dusted off an old bit of research that I keep playing with, and thought it worth the effort to try this kind of format. I am looking to combine information from various pages on to one; in this case, I just decided to start with hits (I don't know why?)

I have copied, verbatim, the 3,000 hit page data, and added the rest. I am not altering its format yet, as I would like it for easier comparison to the newer format of listing teams and season together.

I also copied the text from the page on hitting streaks here (thank you to the author(s))!

This is incomplete; I hope to add individual game records (both for individuals and teams).

Two other things: I don't like lists that are "Top 100 hitters". I prefer to set a criterion (like 3,000 hits), and add any player that meets that criterion. I also started combining the seasons and teams in one column (after the 3,000 hit list) so that it is easy to see which seasons are with which team.

I am curious as to see if the community sees any merit to this format .... I hope it would more efficiently consolidate some information.TeganX7 04:12, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of major league baseball hit records → List of Major League Baseball hit records — I do not understand why the page was moved in the first place. MLB is a proper noun in need of capitalization. All other pages in Category:Major League Baseball records (and the category name itself) use proper capitalization. --Muboshgu (talk) 12:12, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

154- vs. 162-game season[edit]

For record number of hits in a season, it would be perhaps be good to add: "Until 1961, MLB played a 154-game regular season." Thoughts? Zepppep (talk) 12:46, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
