Right now this data for each of these movies is duplicated on the article for the movie itself. This isn't good, because if there are changes made to it, it has to be made in both places. What could be a better way of organizing it? --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 04:26, Sep 21, 2004 (UTC)

Yeah, I was thinking about this just after I made the initial list. What we may have to do is is under every page say "See: List of James Bond gagets" and "See: List of James Bond vehicles". Something that may stand out among ALL other gadgets or vehicles perhaps should get a special mentioning, but the only thing I can really think of is the Aston Martin DB5 that may warrant such an entry. Individual pages

Insert non-formatted text here We've discussed it before, but I'm hoping to revive that conversation by asking if anyone opposes me removing the "descriptions" of the gadgets from the individual pages and just linking to this article. Links to Gadget Listing page

Kevin, I definately agree that the gadget entries and descriptions should be removed from the individual movie pages. Those pages should have a link to the "List of James Bond Gadgets" page, which is currently more comprehensive and better written.

Also, I don't feel the inclusion of the obligatory Q-Branch gags is appropriate for the main gadget listing. That was why I initially removed the Goldeneye x-ray doc scanner and phone booth gag. I was thinking it might be a good idea to break out those items into a eparate area. I was going to make a heading such as "Q-Branch scene", but I was side-tracked. Oh ok. I think theres only a few of these besides GoldenEye. The Living Daylights and Moonraker most notably. FYI, Fleming writes it as "Q Branch". I just learned that myself when I went back to read his books.

We still risk the chance of duplication by having gadgets and vehicle names listed on multiple pages. Having a link to the specific page for more details works best in my opinion. --Seacor 02:10, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Gadget Problem

Bond's slightitly radioactive watch face doesn't really qualify as a gadget; until the 1970s, most watches with luminescent faces or dials used tritium, a radioactive form of hydrogen. Up until the 1940s, luminescent watches actually used Radium, as horrifying as that sounds. All the same, "The main victims of radium were the watch dial painters, who were encouraged to keep a fine point on their paint brushes by licking the brush end. The wearers of the watch receive only a small dose of additional radiation per year, much less than the natural background radiation." The watch on my wrist right now has radioactive material to make it glow -- I don't think anything that I wear on a daily basis qualifies as a true James Bond "gadget."

Agree, the Rolex Submariner was a consumer issue item he wore. It only became a near-"gadget" in OHMSS (novel) when he used it for a knuckle-duster, ruining it. David Spalding (☎ ✉ ✍) 03:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Casino Royale

I've started a list of the gadgets in the new Casino Royale (yes, there are gadgets!), but I'm just going by memory and I'm sure I missed one or two. 23skidoo 22:56, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

The homing device in Le Chiffre's inhaler is actually used. When he arrives on Le Chiffre's floor in the hotel, he has a dot on his GPS screen, and the only possible thing it could be is the homing device.

But that's more of a microphone bug than a tracker isn't it? They even call it a "bug".

Should there be discussion on which are *real* and which are fiction?

Should there be any discussion on which gadgets are real (available today), and which ones are pure fantasy? I was watching the James Bond Gadget special (was that Discovery channel?) and they mentioned that "rebreather" in Thunderball, about how the British military was interested, and was devastated to find out it's all movie magic. --Kschang77 04:46, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm interested to know which ones *were* fiction but have become real.

Subdermal Implant

Someone removed the part about the subdermal chip monitoring Bond's vitals and switched it to some syringe in his car. In the scene where Bond is first implanted with the chip, you can clearly see his pulse and blood pressure on the screen. The vitals are monitored by his chip, not a syringe in his car. Magnetic watch?

The section on Live and Let Die says, "The magnetic watch (see above)..." There are some references to watches but it's not clear what the "magnetic watch" is or why Bond hoped to use it to save himself from alligators. The Man with the golden gun

Why is TMWTGG not mentioned? as far as i can tell it is the only official bond film not on the list and i remeber there being gagets in it. As i remeber there were some very intresting things like the gun itself and a car that became a plane and a base on a sunken ship. (Morcus (talk) 02:18, 11 March 2008 (UTC))

Film bias

Why are only film gadgets listed? Shouldn't the list be in novel order and then point out the differences between novel and film gadgets? Emperor001 (talk) 23:53, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
