Frederick Lindemann[edit]

I do not think that he was Jewish. In the article on his father it is said that this father came from a Roman Catholic family whilst the mother was an Anglican. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolph_Friedrich_Lindemann

The reference in this article according to which Lindemann is Jewish does also not work.

The Sander Family of Oxford[edit]

Add the politician Larry Sanders (and his politician son Jacob Sanders) to this list; Larry is the brother of U.S. politician Bernie Sanders, who is verifiably Jewish. Since they are all from the same family, logic dictates that they are Jews as well. --WassermannNYC 13:53, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please feel free to do so.--20.138.246.89 16:55, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Add Sir Gerald Bernard Kaufman (born 21 June 1930) is a British Labour Member of Parliament who was a government minister during the 1970s. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.97.164.254 (talk) 10:20, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clement Freud[edit]

Should Clem Freud be included in this list. I ask because in his obituaries it refers to him being the first Jewish Liberal MP but also that he had converted to the Anglican faith when he married which was years before he became an MP. Hoppytroffy (talk) 15:25, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Peter Mandselson[edit]

Should Peter Mandelson not also be included? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.171.20.117 (talk) 16:05, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's because Judaism is passed down from the mother and it was only Mandelson's dad that was Jewish. 2A00:23C7:6E0D:A401:55EE:9DBF:4777:C1E7 (talk) 00:57, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why does this list even exist?[edit]

What is the value of this list? We don't add to peoples bios that they are this or that religion unless it is very relative to their life story or unless they have openly declared their ownership of that religion. This list is of no value and should be deleted. Off2riorob (talk) 09:45, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Being Jewish is about race ethnicity as much as it about religion Vexorg (talk) 05:26, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Any Watchers of the list?[edit]

David Cameron was added to this list two months ago, is he Jewish, no he is not. An IP address removed him after two months. Off2riorob (talk) 12:02, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

David Sumberg is listed as leaving the House of Commons in 1995. His wiki entry states that he left at the 1997 general election. Which one is correct? I guess 1997, but am not certain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.27.104.196 (talk) 14:04, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lord Goodhart is missing. I see he is the brother of Philip Goodhart MP.

Sources[edit]

Spartacus schoolnet is used as a source in this article. It has been repeatedly discussed the Reliable Sources Noticeboard WP:RSN and is determined to be a self-published site WP:SPS that is not a Reliable Source WP:RS and should not be used as a reference for Wikipedia articles, though it can be used as an External Link.[1]. References to this source have been removed, and replaced with a tag, but the associated text has been retained. Better sources must be found for this text; text that is not supported by an inline reference to a Reliable Source may be removed. Fladrif (talk) 18:37, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Harrington - MP for Watford[edit]

I was at a talk he gave when he said that he was Jewish. He's not on this list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.3.147.153 (talk) 22:07, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish Emancipation[edit]

The article states that: "A law in place until the 1850s stated that no member of the Jewish religion could be elected to Parliament." Did the law actually say that, or did it say that an MP had to swear a Christian oath before assuming office? Giano (talk) 21:06, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of British Jewish politicians's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "ww":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 08:36, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Politicians of Jewish descent[edit]

Looking a the list of those in the 21st century I would question the inclusion of some of them. I have removed Lord Mann, John Mann as he isn't Jewish or of Jewish ancestry. While others such as Jack Straw I would question their inclusion given he has said himself he is only 1/8th Jewish and I don't think he identifies as such. C. 22468 Talk to me 19:15, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mann is still there in the Peers section. I agree he should be removed, as he isn't Jewish, but is often assumed to be because of his record of campaigning against perceived antisemitism. --Ef80 (talk) 11:16, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Members of the House of Lords?[edit]

It's a shame that we don't (yet?) have a similar list of the Jewish members of the House of Lords. Ender's Shadow Snr (talk) 07:07, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
