Lilieasleaf Farm in Rivonia This is my first page. There is a web site for Liliesleaf Farm, but it's very difficult to find. I finally found it at www.liliesleaf.co.za although I couldn't find it initially becuase of a typo. It has lots of photos and good content. I've set up a reference to that, although it looks a bit amateurish.
I finally moved my new article and was amazed to see how Wikipedia instantly finds all the links from other articles which have the name of my new article in them. I was only trying to fix the redlink in the Rivonia article. Amazing stuff !!!!

I don't think I need to link to the ANC and Nelson Mandela. George Mellis is mentioned in the archive material at the farm about what led to the raid. He is not otherwise notable. Should I mention him?

I've included my own photo of one of the key buidings - a small thatched building that was often used for meetings. (I've lived in Rivonia for over 30 years.}
Any help would be appreciated. --Colinvlr (talk) 15:55, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can get through to www.liliesleaf.co.za without a problem. There is a typo in the url you gave above. Zaian (talk) 06:28, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I see I've included an extra 'a'.

Many thanks for all the edits that I see you've done on my first version. Looks so much better. And I see there's a new word - 'wikify'. I asked the editors of the Nelson Mandela article to add a link to Liliesleaf Farm as it's in the text but not as a link. Is it worth changing 'for a relatively minor offence' to 'for inciting workers to strike and for leaving the country illegally'? More specific but it's repeating what users can find elsewhere....... Also the Nelson Mandela article says (I think) that he was already in prison on Robben island when the raid happened. Another source says he was in prison in Johannesburg's Fort. They can't both be right. Colinvlr (talk) 06:37, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, there's a lot of wikipedia jargon ;-) There's now a link from the Nelson Mandela article. Both the points you raised above sound like improvements, so feel free to edit that article. He was only moved to Robben Island after the Rivonia conviction, not the earlier one. Zaian (talk) 11:25, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I made a couple of minor edits to the page and changed th reference to Mandela's arrest to 'the previous year'. I believe he was actually arrested in August and convicted in October or November, but they can go to the Mandela article for accuracy.

This user comes from South Africa.

Hotel next to Farm[edit]

I don't think the reference to the planned development of a hotel next to Liliesleaf Farm should include the name of the developing group - sounds too much like advertising to me. colinvlr but not signed in at the time I wrote this. 41.132.123.136 (talk) 14:56, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
