Calendar Inconsistencies[edit]

The date given at the beginning of Part 8 appears inconsistent with the calendar as described in Part 4. This may be simply a reflection that natural calendars don't match up perfectly with human-made measurements, a later (unmentioned) refinement of the calendar or simply miscalculations by the author.

Example 1

The beginning of Part 8 suggests that Gabriel 16, CY03 falls on a Zamael. Presuming that 1) every three months does have 92 days as described; and 2) that no days of Coyote's week are skipped between the end of one month and the beginning of the next (i.e. if Uriel 92, CY01 falls on Anael, then Adnachiel 1, CY01 will fall on Michael), then Gabriel 16, CY03 should fall on a Anael.

There are three longer months between First Landing Day and Gabriel 16, CY03. The author might have not counted the three extra days, which would then result in that day falling on Zamael as described.

Example 2

That same date, Gabriel 16, CY03, is given as the Coyote equivalent of when the URSS Alabama notifed Captain Lee of the WHSS Glorious Destiny's arrival in the Bear system. But the URSS Alabama's computer, still measuring time by the Gregorian calendar suggests the equivalent date is 03.12.2304. Presuming the ship's computer's calendar is also affected by the relativitic velocities, Gabriel 16, CY03 should be November 20, 2300. If it is reporting the non-relativistic date, the equivalent date would be August 8, 2304. In either case, either the computer is wrong or the equivalent date has been miscalculated.
