How come no mention of Harrison’s participation in the extermination of jews[edit]

There’s no mention of his receiving a telegram Riegner telegram and brushing it of as war time misinformation. Taking action on this telegram might have save millions of Jews. He didn’t even investigate it. Given the Nazi’s this should have been investigated further. 38.42.107.74 (talk) 17:15, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have to agree with this user, and I came here to raise the same question. The current article reads as such:

"As Ambassador to Switzerland, Harrison was sympathetic to Jewish rescue and relief operations and worked closely with Gerhardt Riegner, the representative of the World Jewish Congress in Geneva and sent several reports regarding the murder of the Jews of Europe to the United States Department of State in Washington D.C.

He endorsed many of these reports as being credible and recommended action be taken to assist in the relief and rescue of Jews in Nazi-controlled territories."

But much of the historical literature, and educational resources put forth by Holocaust history groups runs counter to this claim. Both David Talbot and the World Jewish Congress quote Harrison himself as having said claims about the final solution were “war rumor inspired by fear.” The State Department stated in another cable that the account delivered to Harrison was “wild rumor inspired by Jewish fears,” so I'm not sure that this page is an accurate reflection of Holocaust and FDR-era history. Harrison also worked closely at points with Allen Dulles, who for his part declined to publicize his knowledge of the final solution for a considerable amount of time after he learned of this via the Department of State, and separately from NBC correspodent Gerard Mayer.
