filming[edit]

I believe that the filming in Tucson was done specifically at Old Tucson Studios but cannot swear to that 100%.

Bartok based on Tesla?[edit]

I sometimes wondered if the character Bartok was based on the real-life inventor Nikola Tesla. Both were from eastern Europe, and in at least one episode Bartok expressed dislike of Thomas Edison, as was probably the real-life case with Tesla on more than one occasion. I no longer have the e-mails and source material to prove it, but I'm pretty confident that co-creator Bill Dial has specifically acknowledged that he and co-creator Michael Piller patterned Bartok on Tesla. In addition to the points you cite, Tesla did a lot of work with alternating current electricity that resembles some of the devices in Bartok's workshop. Also, like Bartok's, Tesla's now famous laboratory was in Colorado (in Colorado Springs) where he conducted various "magical" experiments... Above photograph was, in fact, taken in that very lab. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.216.152.65 (talk) 17:44, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It seems possible; but without some sort of verifiable source this is unsourced. It's been discussed and citation has not been found. I am removing that comment along with the citation needed tag from the Bartok character bio section.173.168.196.134 (talk) 14:22, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Added in Tesla ref from RDA interview in Starlog "Bartok is an interesting guy. He makes Thomas Edison look like a neophyte. He sees the great possibilities for good to be done by Legend, for helping people and for the discovery of invention. We've based Bartok, not so loosely, on a real-life person, Nikola Tesla. We've taken Tesla's persona and his sort of adversarial relationship with Thomas Edison"(talk) 18:52, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
