Deleted content[edit]

FelixRosch added some quotations to this article. They triggered a copyright violation tool, as quotations should, and Moxy removed them. I added the content back, and Wizardman deleted it because "rm blatant copyright violation. even if attributed, having the whole article being a copypaste from elsewhere is a major issue."

This was discussed at Felix's page and my page; discussion should have all been here on this talk page.

I commented to Wizardman about this on his page. I do not feel strongly about this, but I always regret when disputes escalate without conversation. I did not see the problem with the quotations especially with the quoted information being odd dated personal descriptions that would not translate as effectively to re-written text. Perhaps it should be re-written, but it did not seem clear and obvious to me. Blue Rasberry (talk) 15:38, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The basics of this is outlined at Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources. To put it simply we cant have the bulk of an article full of copyrighted material as per Wikipedia:Non-free content#Unacceptable use. I think it could easily be re-writen... nothing here that cant be paraphrase by even a student (I guess I will take the time to do this in the near future - have to read up about the person first) User:Wizardman already took the effort to fix it. All we need is editors to put in a little effort... as any college student would do. As for "escalate without conversation"....the problem is that this has come up more then a few times with this editor....to no avail. No copy and pasting...write things out in your own words... save lots of trouble for others. -- Moxy (talk) 18:16, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
