It says she is Scottish...I remember her from some insurance ads years back, with a VERY strong Scottish accent...but when she's interviewed on Eastenders programmes, she has her London voice...so I'm wondering, what is her real accent then? Jamandell (d69) 00:52, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Appearances

To the user who continuously adds that this actor has appeared on programmes like GMTV, and This Morning please stop. How is her being interviewed on a chat show, where almost every tv personailty is interviewed, relevant to her career? She is promoting a storyline for EastEnders. They all do that. It's a personal appearance and not notable for inclusion in this article. Let people go to IMDB for a list of personal appearances on chat shows. No other actor has such a list and Laurie Brett should be no different.GGMoan 17:13, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Removal of sourced info

This page is continuously being removed of its only sourced content. The reasoning behind the users actions are unknown and they refuse to say why when asked. The page has now been fully protected with the only source removed, and the person doing the content removal has been blocked User talk:Master133. I think the removed content should be reincluded, if the user wants to come and explain why the content should be removed when his block expires, then please do. Date of Birth

OK, people have recently been posting that the date of birth on Wikipedia is wrong. I've googled this and the only date of birth I can find is the same one that's currently on Wikipedia. The only website that's saying she's Aries is the BBC but they don't give her date of birth, so it may be that this is an error on their site, not on Wikipedia. If anyone has a referenced link stating another date of birth then please either discuss it here, or, if you're a registered editor, you can add it to her page but it must be backed up by a referenced link. If you're not a registered editor then you currently won't be able to edit the actress' main page for the next day or two as I requested for it to be locked because of people constantly posting comments on the main page that belonged in here --5 albert square (talk) 15:12, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

I have looked into this further and still cannot find any other date of birth for Laurie. I have googled everything I can think of. The closest thing I could find was an interview with John Partridge on Digital Spy which again claims that she's an Aries but again doesn't give any date of birth. Again, if anyone has proof of another date of birth then please edit Laurie's wiki to say so, but it must be backed up by a referenced source or it will be reverted. Finally any comments on this matter must be posted here not on the actress' wiki page --5 albert square (talk) 20:26, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
If John Partridge says she's Aries then she's probably Aries. All the other sites you've seen have probably got her date of birth from IMDb, which is unreliable. I think we should remove her date of birth until a better source can be found. Do you have a link for the JP interview? AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:28, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
I found it [1] "In actual fact, Laurie and my real-life sister share the same birthday! Both Aries, born on the same day two years apart." I'd say she's Aries and her dob is wrong. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:34, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
It should be noted that IMDb is not a reliable source for a date of birth, and as the character Jane Beale has her birthday on 2 May it seems likely that someone has submitted that to IMDb in error and other sites have picked it up from IMDb. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 23:12, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
OK, to add on to that Anemone, if that's wrong then it could be that 1970 isn't her year of birth either. Should that be removed too or do we leave it as it is just now? --5 albert square (talk) 23:43, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
I just searched the internet and found that in July 2007, she was described as a 37-year-old actress meaning she was born between 20 March 1970 and 19 April 1970. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 00:01, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I just removed a comment on the actresses page that suggests how to find out her birthday. It seems to me that no matter who said what about her birth, it is all a bit vague - second hand quotes. Many people don't take star signs seriously and just becase someone says so-and-so is an aries does not prove a lot to me. Unless there is direct quote about the birth day, I'd ignore it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Paulmarkj (talkcontribs) 17:44, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

you should write to her thats only way you will find out her date of birth —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.172.31.54 (talk) 18:07, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

The actors and actresses of EastEnders are very busy people what with their filming schedules and other engagements. It can often take them months to reply to letters, some may choose not to reply to letters, which they are quite entitled to do. I've already explained to you on your talk page that I emailed her agent to point out that it seemed that some websites seem to have muddled up her date of birth with Jane Beale's and I didn't get any reply to that. Have you considered that Laurie maybe just doesn't want her date of birth to be common knowledge? Either way it's not essential to her page and I certainly wouldn't trouble her by writing to her asking for it --5 albert square (talk) 20:04, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
—Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.173.71.56 (talk) 14:30, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
If you're so desperate for her date of birth, why don't you write to her yourself? Besides, it would still be considered original research and it would be unverifiable. Please stop asking or you may find yourself blocked from editing. It's not that important to have every person's exact date of birth in Wikipedia. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 15:08, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Like Anemone says, if you're so desperate to know her date of birth you can write to her yourself. It's not essential to have this on her page, please stop asking this question or you may find yourself blocked from editing. Thanks --5 albert square (talk) 08:43, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

cant you try writing to her once for her date of birth

because your writing to herself also can you add more to laurie bretts page
Hi, for the final time I am not going to write to Laurie for this. It's you that wants to know her date of birth so I suggest that you write to her. As for her page, this is updated with information already as and when it is necessary. If you want to add more to her page, then please do so providing that it is of encyclopedic interest. If it's not encyclopedic it will be reverted. Finally please stop asking someone to write to Laurie for her date of birth. It's not important to her page. If you keep asking this you will either be blocked from editing, or, if necessary, this page (maybe even the article if deemed necessary) will be locked. Lastly, when talking on talk pages, please always sign your posting using the four tides or by clicking on the button at the top of the edit box. Thanks for your co-operation with all I've mentioned above--5 albert square (talk) 21:18, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Page Updates

Laurie Bretts page is not updated read the personal life you havent added laurie bretts current relationship status —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.160.113.242 (talk) 19:51, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Such as????? It states that she used to date a musician. If it says that she used to date a musician then that would tend to indicate that she is now single but there is no need to be that specific in her article as people are more than capable of working that out for themselves. As far as I'm aware she is still single and there is nothing on Google to indicate otherwise.
If you have an update on this, if you provide further information along with a reference then I will consider adding this to the article for you. However it must be provided along with a referenced source that can be verified or any update will not be considered --5 albert square (talk) 05:31, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

how do you know shes single —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.173.112.102 (talk) 09:07, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

"Brett was in a relationship with a musician named Dave Evans for six years. The couple met on a blind date in 2001 and got engaged; however, they split in 2007 before the wedding". That would tend to indicate that she is single as there is nothing to suggest that she has been in a relationship since then. Like I say if you have anything to state otherwise please post it here with a referenced source and I will consider adding it to the article for you. --5 albert square (talk) 15:40, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4161/is_20050731/ai_n14829302/ here is an interview with laurie brett can you add information in wikipedia from this interview —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.173.69.133 (talk) 12:55, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

I've added a little to her private life about her saying that she doesn't like the level of scrutiny some of her co-stars attract. Other than that there's nothing that we can really add from that article, it's nearly 5 years old so probably more out of date than her Wikipedia page. As for her date of birth, please stop asking about this as we cannot find it out. If you want to know it, I suggest that you ask Laurie yourself. However, we would still not be able to add it to the article as explained above. --5 albert square (talk) 23:13, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

could you also add in her personal life her 20 years of drunken years also —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.151.121.57 (talk) 09:15, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

could you remove the line about the scrutinity and the going out line removed could you remove it it spoils the article —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.135.104.255 (talk) 09:16, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

What????? PLEASE MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!!! WE'VE ONLY JUST BEEN ASKED TO ADD IT!!!! If you want the sentence modified then please explain how you'd like it re-worded. If you'd like it taken out then we'll endeavour to do that but then it won't be re-added. Thank you --5 albert square (talk) 11:41, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
No. You asked us to add it; we added it. Now you're asking us to remove it. From now on, unless you give us a GOOD reason to update this article, your requests will be IGNORED. "It spoils the article" is not a good enough reason. And if we remove it, you will just ask us to add it again. I suggest you now go out and find something more constructive to do with your life. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 15:39, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

i provided you with the information so can you remove the line saying going out and the scrutinity line removed i will not ask you to add it back —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.173.98.160 (talk) 08:57, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Why do you want it removed when you asked for it to be added in the first place? AnemoneProjectors (talk) 14:32, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

i did not ask for the line of scrutinity and going out to be added —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.173.98.160 (talk) 15:36, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

You asked us to add information from the article provided. You did not specify what you wanted added, you left that up to us. That article talks about her going out, EastEnders and her ex-boyfriend. As the article is nearly 5 years old a lot of it is outdated. The information on EastEnders relates to the character and belongs on the characters page (in any case it's also outdated). The information about her boyfriend is also outdated as they have now split up and therefore not worth adding. The only information we could really add was about her youth, which I did as you continually requested that information was added. You asked for information to be added from the article, we added it --5 albert square (talk) 20:56, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm going to remove the bit about scrutiny as it's not really about her and her life, and add that she drank heavily for 20 years, as the way it was written before didn't make a lot of sense. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 15:00, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

http://www.people.co.uk/news/news/tm_method=full%26objectID=17109419%26siteID=93463-name_page.html can you add information in laurie bretts article from this interview —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.156.213.111 (talk) 10:23, 22 December 2009 (UTC) could you also add information in laurie bretts article from this second interview http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/showbiz/2006/04/21/laurie-isn-t-plain-jane-anymore-86908-16973413/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.156.213.111 (talk) 10:29, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

I've just read both of those and the only thing I can see that's worth adding that isn't already mentioned is the fact that she's an only child and that her mother's name is Anne, but without her father's name as well it's kind of pointless. The Daily Record article is more about the character than the actress, and has nothing worth adding here that I can see. It would help if you specified the actual parts from both articles you'd like to see added. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 13:12, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

could you add more to laurie bretts page —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.160.114.52 (talk) 14:52, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Like we've said before, provide sources and let us know what you want to be added and we'll work on it for you. We can't just add information from nowhere. Why are you asking this again? You know what the situation is! AnemoneProjectors (talk) 16:57, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

could you add an image of her on the article —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.160.114.52 (talk) 17:35, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately not. Wikipedia does not allow copyrighted images to be used for living people, so we couldn't use a screenshot or a picture from the internet. It would have to have a special licence, either Creative Commons or public domain or something similar. There are no pictures of Laurie Brett available with the correct licences. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 17:56, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

ok —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.160.114.52 (talk) 19:38, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Why do you keep removing your comments from the talk page? It's a bit strange. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:30, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I've been meaning to ask the same myself. It looks strange, like some form of editing test --5 albert square (talk) 22:28, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
The user is asking a question or asking for something to be included, and then removing their request. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 22:32, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Well, can you stop doing it please? Either ask something and let us answer, or don't ask at all. Thanks --AnemoneProjectors (talk) 18:26, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Also, if you are asking a question on any talk page can you please remember and sign your post using the signature button above, rather than have SineBot run around signing the posts :) --5 albert square (talk) 18:32, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

would you try writing to her for her date of birth —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.173.71.51 (talk) 19:52, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

No. For one it would probably come across as being rude. Secondly, even if she did reply and state it, it couldn't be counted on Wikipedia as a source and there really would have to be one quoted in this instance. Also it's not essential to the article. If you really want to know her date of birth, I suggest that you contact her --5 albert square (talk) 20:01, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict) No, because a) it would be rude to ask and b) even if she did reply and gave me her date of birth, I wouldn't be able to add it to the article. If you are so desperate to know, write to Laurie Brett, EastEnders, BBC Elstree Centre, Clarendon Road, Borehamwood, Herts, WD6 1JF. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:12, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
Funny how we said exactly the same thing there :) AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:13, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
Haha yeah, it is strange isn't it! To the anonymous IP - be aware though if you write to Laurie you may be waiting a while for a reply so please be patient :) --5 albert square (talk) 20:22, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
Do you know that because you've written to her, or have you read the Digital Spy forums? :) AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:46, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
Ah no, never written to her but I do know that some EE cast take a long time to reply, that's if they reply at all. They don't have to. I think it depends on how busy they are with filming and other commitments, obviously with the 25th anniversary approaching some cast members are going to be extremely busy. I remember when I wrote out to John Partridge just after he started in EE, I had to wait about a month for a reply. Why are people commenting about it on Digital Spy? --5 albert square (talk) 20:59, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
There's a thread about autograph collectors, and apparently Cheryl Fergison is a quick replyer. I only read it because I decided to write to the four stars of E20 last week. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:19, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

As Anemone has already said above, there is nothing that we can really add from that article --5 albert square (talk) 22:55, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Maybe. I think all the sources could be used, even if it's just to back up what's already there. They might be able to go into Jane Beale as well. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 15:30, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Can you please stop adding comments to the talk page and then striking them out? As it is I have now fixed the reference, though it didn't seem to belong anywhere in particular and just seemed to have been added at random so I've just used it to reference a couple of parts. Thanks for pointing it out though :) --5 albert square (talk) 19:35, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
I assumed the link that was added was the one the IP has been asking us to add, and that the IP got an account to edit the page but wasn't signed in when they asked for it to be fixed. Glad you've added it in anyway because I never got around to it. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:08, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

can you add the reference next to the part saying she revealed she speeks with a scottish accent i moved it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.148.144.136 (talk) 20:57, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Another request. Please can you stay logged in ALL THE TIME? Thank you. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:04, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
Well, if you wanted it to stay there, why did you move it?
Also, you must be a registered editor to make the edits so why don't you just move it back yourself? --5 albert square (talk) 21:06, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
He didn't move it, he removed it. But could have easily put it back himself. I want to issue a warning on his talk page for that but can't find the right template. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:11, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
I think I found a template through the welcoming committee that will do. I've modified it slightly to explain how to add citations, I've already added it to Master's page, just about to add it to the anonymous IP page too --5 albert square (talk) 21:50, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Consider this a warning. 1) Please LOG IN to edit talk pages. We know you have an account and we know you know how to use it. 2) Please do not add links to articles and then ask us to fix them. Either do it yourself, or add the link to the talk page and request it to be added there. 3) Don't add comments to talk pages and then remove them. Thank you. If you don't do those three things, then I you may be blocked from editing. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:58, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Anemone, I've also warned Master about this tonight. About 5 minutes ago actually. Finally Master, if you were wanting to point out something wrong with Jane Beale then you should do it at Talk: Jane Beale NOT on Laurie's talk page! --5 albert square (talk) 22:07, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. The DS interview with Laurie Brett contains nothing that can be added to the article, by the way. I've seen it before. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 22:22, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Just realised that you can't any longer. Please don't harass any editor by continually posting here asking for interviews to be added. OK, firstly you are currently trying to evade your block from editing. You were blocked under the username User: Master133. Any block is counted as Sock puppetry, if you do not know what this is then please click on the link that's been provided and it will be explained. Please note that the block is against you and not against your username. Secondly I cannot find any interviews to add, if there are any interviews to add they will be added once they become available if there is relevant information to add. Thirdly, even if you weren't blocked from editing, then the question should be asked at the character's talk page of Talk: Jane Beale not the actress' talk page. Take care --5 albert square (talk) 21:20, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
