LaVan Davis (Born LaVan Davis)[edit]

Can someone explain to me why the IP editor keeps adding that LaVan Davis was born LaVan Davis? This is redundant. Asher196 (talk) 00:10, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Misconception?[edit]

I'm almost at the point where I would like IP 209.215.***.*** blocked long term. The constant adding of unsourced content and unwillingness to try to understand wikipedia concepts such as WP:CITE, WP:RS, and WP:BLP are among my chief complaints. This is an example: "It is frequently mistaken that LaVan Davis is married to actress Cassi Davis in real life, but it is known to be false. They portray a married couple on Tyler Perry's House of Payne as Curtis Payne and Ella Payne, and a couple in the play Madea Goes to Jail as boyfriend and girlfriend. They can both also be seen on the movie Daddy's Little Girls. Tyler Perry claims they work very well together" How do we know that it is frequently mistaken? How do we know it is known to be false? I've removed this so many times it's ridiculous. IP editor, READ THE LINKS I posted above. This is an encyclopedia, not a magazine article. Asher196 (talk) 01:56, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please, Asher, try not to BITE so much. S/he is trying to improve the article, as noted on my talk. Give them a little time to get it together. CTJF83Talk 02:54, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have as much history with this IP or IP range. This is a longstanding issue. Have you looked at the edit history of this article? I'm not sure who we are dealing with since this seems to be a dynamic IP. I don't know if it is one person or several, but communication has been practically impossible with him/her/them. Asher196 (talk) 03:01, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No I don't. All I know about is the 2 and 4 dozen edits I can see. If there is more issues, than I don't know about them, or if they are all the same user. CTJF83Talk 03:09, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Have you noticed that this person added back the unsourced paragraph I took out without participating in the talk page discussion about why it was removed? This is what has been going on for months. Asher196 (talk) 03:13, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Now I'm not taking his/her side or anything...but did you leave a message about the talk page discussion on said user's talk page? Not just in an edit summary. CTJF83Talk 03:26, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You don't seem to get it. I can't leave a message because the IP is constantly changing. I've left countless messages in the past to no avail. They just jump IP's. If you look, they just changed from 209.215.62.40 to 209.215.63.170 Asher196 (talk) 03:28, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protect? CTJF83Talk 03:37, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose that would be a good interim solution. Asher196 (talk) 03:41, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
request it if you want :) CTJF83Talk 03:42, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Article has been protected for 1 week and the users got a slap in the wrist (blocked) for 24 hours. I will look into the info requested to be deleted. --JForget 00:16, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is there any other area then the Personnel Life section that info should be deleted. Other info which is sourced includes the birth date and place and the films participated. The other areas that is shown as sourced from imbd.com has another source accompanying it. --JForget 00:19, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've taken the liberty of cleaning up the page because some of the content was repeated and there's really not enough content here to split it up into two sections. I'm not sure there's any reason to cite IMDb for film/television credits (which is what it was being used as) since it's already listed as an EL, so I've removed that as well and added a complete filmography chart. I think for now, stubbing the article makes the most sense because there's almost no reliable information about the subject and the information that other editors were (rightly) removing seemed to be copy and pasted from the TBS bio and the part about him being "mistakenly married" is trivial and poorly sourced. Pinkadelica Say it... 02:22, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Based on the above discussion, I've again removed the text "LaVan Davis is frequently mistaken to have a relationship with actress Cassi Davis, but it is false. Mainly mistaken because they share a common last name. They only portray a married couple on Tyler Perry's House of Payne as Curtis Payne and Ella Payne. (No relation between LaVan Davis and Cassi Davis)."
As has been pointed out, the "is frequently mistaken" fails to provide evidence of this supposed mistake. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 19:43, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
