Si-sawat actually means greyish-blue cat. "Sawat" also means good luck.

This DOT about-kittens DOT com/563/Korat site appears to have a verbatim copy of this article as it existed until today. It does not appear to be the source of this article, as I have traced some of the contents of this article to their original sources, and deleted the copyvio material. This page is very thin on the history on the Korat breed. Further information may be gained by reference to http://www.koratworld.com/home.html or by talking to the breeders themselves on the Yahoo groups http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/koratworld/ and http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Si-Sawat/ Several of the breeders who first brought this cat to the west are still alive and active in the community. Of particular note would be the work of Daphne Negus for example. There is no mention of the following : - The two colour variants as recognised by the UK cat governing body, the GCCF (http://www.gccfcats.org/). A section on this topic should include information on the controversy this recognition caused globally and should also cover both the Thai Lilac of Korat type and the Thai Bluepoint of Korat type. - The history of the work that was done to eliminate two fatal genetic disorders, GM1 and GM2. - The health of the breed in general. - The Korat temperament and what makes a Korat different from other breeds - "the mild cat with a will of iron"! - The standard of points in each of the registries. There should also be particular emphasis on this breed being a natural one and that breeders worldwide have made great effort not to alter this breed's natural characteristics. Featuring Thai Lilac and Thai Blue Point on the Korat page

Dear Readers I am chocked that Thai Lilac and Thai Blue Point are featured on the Korat page. It has been a long work for breeders all over the world not to mix these variant only recognized in England by the GCCF and they are a different breed using the Korats. But it is not supporting the Korat breed and the work of their breeders for decades to have them quoted here as a regular "version" of the Korat. In fact they are just another breed. I wish Thai Lilac and Thai Blue Point express themself here so they can consider having their own page. I wish also Korat breeders can make their voice heard as it is important to respect this breed as it has been saved and promoted for years: a silver tipped blue cat native from Thailand.
