1[edit]

The lines There's a king on a throne with his eyes torn out/There's a blind man looking for a shadow of doubt seem to reference Oedipus.

Also, the lines referring to 'sleeping on a golden bed' and 'choking on a crust of bread' may refer to the plight of King Midas (after he got what he wished for).

Of / of?[edit]

On the CD Every Breath You Take: The Singles it lists it as being "King Of Pain." I think this article is listed improperly and should be fixed. Elfred (talk) 04:17, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As personal crusades go, that's an interesting one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.142.153.215 (talk) 00:46, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The King of Pain/Person[edit]

It was noted that the king of Pain also refers to a literary Charcter from American Gods by Neil Gaiman and is mentioned in The Barbary Coast An Informal History of the San Francisco Underworld by Herbert Asbury I was wondering if anyone found any similiarities or mentions that connect all of these? That's the King of Pain I came here looking for, only to be disappointed except for your comment. Cf: http://jwz.livejournal.com/1039348.html Lippard (talk) 01:51, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blasphemers! Sting is the One True King of Pain and all others are false idols. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.142.153.215 (talk) 00:48, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The "Alanis Morissette Version" Section[edit]

I think this section should be removed because her cover is already mentioned in the "Other Versions" section and doesn't contain any info that couldn't be added to that section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.250.9.39 (talk) 20:06, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've stripped it down William M. Connolley (talk) 23:20, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

West German chart[edit]

@37.47.37.14: Regarding this revert, the consensus at Template talk:Single chart is to use the chart name of "West Germany" for charts prior to October 1990. Do you have a strong argument why we should use "Germany" here instead? Hoof Hearted (talk) 17:47, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
