lack of good sources[edit]

I have relied on the court decision in the tort case as my primary source on this, deconstructing the decision to year, month, day, hour minute who did what where timeline. In writing on the Ballew raid I did type "Silver Springs" when it is Silver Spring MD per the court opinion from which I cut-n-pasted the quote immediately below. But even ex-ATF agent William J. Vizzard (Shots in the Dark: The Policy, Politics, and Symbolism of Gun Control, Rowman & Littlefield, 2001) in writing about the raid on "Bellew" placed it in "Silver Springs" Maryland. Vizzard credits/blames the reaction to the Ballew Raid as bringing about the 1986 Firearms Owners Protection Act, but the sloppy typos in his account make it difficult for me to cite it as a source. Most treatments of the Ballew Raid are opinion/editorial on one side or the other of the gun politics divide. Naaman Brown (talk) 21:24, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
