Origin of the name Kemp[edit]
Rather than be of English origin, my information is that the name came over from Europe in the wave of migration following the Norman Conquest of 1066. Also, that the spelling derived from Old English 'cempa/kempe' , meaning 'warrior' or 'champion'. Kemp ancestors are of Norman (Viking) origin. 'Kemp' certainly emerged as a prominent English family name and a family of great antiquity. Deekae2 (talk) 23:00, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
