Merge proposal[edit]

As the Kelanitissa Combined Cycle Power Station is a part of the same Kelanitissa Power Station complex, I propose to merge this information into this article. Both articles has the same coordinates and also according to this source all facilities are located at the same site (including AES power station). At the moment both articles are very short and poorly written stubs and presenting this information togther will provide more comprehensive overview. In addition, information about AES plant should be added. Beagel (talk) 20:31, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm shocked to see the Kelanitissa topics coming to life just as I am working on the article... I didn't know the pages were created until I had to move the article I created to here because the name had a spelling mistake (copy-paste error). I usually create small articles like these offline; saves my bandwidth... Anyways, the page I made had the merged version, so I guess it tallies with your proposal ;) I'm still working on it though (refs, infobox, incidents, etc)... See you around. I would suggest creating the article in the name "Kelanitissa thermal complex" (which is the official name) and including details of all 3 power stations under it
Kelanitissa power station
Kelanitissa Combined Cycle Power Station
AES Kelanitissa Power Station

Oppose. 1, there is no Kelanitissa Combined Cycle Power Station, it's just that a few units are CC. 2, it is not officially called Kelanitissa thermal complex (simple google search would prove that, else you could go deeper into KPS or CEB pages/documents, or the ADB ref provided, I think that has all the necessary facts. But of course, you are welcome to create a redirect page from than name. Rehman 14:37, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've been working in the Kelanitissa Combined Cycle Power Station which you say does not exist. Anyway here is a JICA aid document. I have few photos to prove the official name, but those can't be published due to security reasons. Pheonix (talk) 14:55, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I can't find any other solid source that supports the fact that there are three separate power stations at Kelanitissa. I personally think this is an outdated research doc (that's a 2006 document) referring to an only-proposed project. Or it could simply be a project that has eventually evolved into being what it is now: certain units of either/both power stations being CC. Certain units were in fact converted to CC around the period when this document is dated... Either way, I think we should only have one article; "Kelanitissa Power Station", and add everything into that per WP:COMMONNAME. Rehman 15:13, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For your information only. Pheonix (talk) 15:41, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(Head's up, your personal info is visible on that link). Well you got me somewhat interested. But I still believe that refers to just a couple of units, and not a whole separate power station. 110MW Gas Turbine and 55MW Steam Trubine very much sounds like what is currently in operation at AES Kelanitissa. That name on that board could simply be what the employees within the facility calls them, at the relevant unit's location. We need more solid sources to support what you're saying. I'll be going offline soon. Will respond to any posts tomorrow morning (UTC+05:30). Good night. Rehman 16:25, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
