Climate[edit]

Where does the average of 28.2c come from? Sounds like rubbish to me.

Someone has copied it from [1] but it is rubbish. I have lived there, it does get really hot in the summer, and 28C might be true as an average for a short period in midsummer during January or February, but not for the whole period November to April. And if the average winter temperature really was 20 degrees Kawerau would be banana and pineapple growing paradise. I doubt it even reaches 20 at all in the winter. Strange there is no mention of the weeks of frosty mornings in the winter either Kahuroa 07:52, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I remember it being a lot colder than 20 over winter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.97.111.217 (talk) 00:19, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

I have proposed that this article be moved from "Kawerau, New Zealand" to "Kawerau", at Wikipedia:Requested moves. The current title disambiguation is unnecessary: per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (New Zealand), unique New Zealand placenames are not pre-disambiguated.

Originally, each article title was used in separate articles about the same town. Eventually, one article was simply merged into the other, and for this reason alone the article has been named "Kawerau, New Zealand" ever since, with "Kawerau" as a redirect. Feel free to leave any comments about the proposed move here. Cheers. – Liveste (talk) 18:29, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. As you say, no reason for disambiguation. Unsure of exactly how to best preserve the two histories, however. Andrewa (talk) 00:33, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support if no other topic with the same name exists. --Polaron | Talk 16:01, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. Shouldn't there be a naming convention for New Zealand cities/towns before a move is made? I'm leaning towards oppose at the moment and think any towns that are not significant enough be renamed to "Town name, New Zealand". --203.220.171.83 (talk) 10:40, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. I just found the naming convention covering New Zealand placenames. I've changed the request rationale accordingly. Sorry for the confusion. Cheers – Liveste (talk) 19:57, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Clear consensus to move, and done so. Maxim(talk) 13:56, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

National Woodskills Festival- biggest money earner?[edit]

I'm a bit sceptical of claims that the National Woodskills Festival is the town's largest event and money earner. Wouldn't that be the Norske Skog Tasman mill? Hence my edit to say largest money earner after the Norske Skog Tasman mill.

Kawerau Woodfest-biggest earner??[edit]

I have made an alteration based on Grants amendment. Grant could possibly be correct that Norske Skog is a bigger earner than Woodfest, however the title is 'Events' and the comment regarding the economic value to Kawerau which Woodfest brings to the town should be reflected in the text. Kawerau Woodfest is by far the event which drives the largest economic benefit to the town. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.227.215.12 (talk) 06:35, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
