  • Mention/clarification of the scope of kuia versus kaumātua

Spelling changed to "kaumātua" (would kaumatua be singular?). Since men and women can be kaumātua, I don't think you need to specifically mention kuia ... unless you want to compare them to koroua. Cheers. Liveste (talkedits) 04:50, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just saying[edit]

While the article is correct about general qualification to be a kaumatua, iwis may differ in who they consider to have kaumatua status. For instance Ngai Tahu considers all of its registered members over sixty five years old are automatically kaumatua, and each year they get an early kaumatua Xmas present grant, something more than $300.
