Clearer character picture?[edit]

Well, pretty much what the tagline says, is there no clearer picture available for the infobox? Neither it nor the other picture show the character clearly. Someoneanother 20:20, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I actually reduced the image in size to correspond to that whole low resolution rule. The image is on the SF Wikia, if you want to make a less reduced version. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 04:57, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's the image itself which is the problem, rather than anything you've done to it, I went to the SF Wikia and clicked on half of the characters in the SFIV cat. - this was the only one where the character's face remains a mystery. Would either of these be usable [1] [2]? Someoneanother 23:42, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think a combination of the latter image for the lead and the current lead image to demonstrate the Feng Shui engine and her attacks' aura would be a good idea. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 09:33, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's much better, thanks for taking it on board. Someoneanother 00:13, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No problemo, always happy to help. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 07:57, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProjects[edit]

@Dimadick: @SnowFire: Evidently there is a dispute over this, and I find it a strange dispute. It is extremely unusual to have WikiProjects for a nation on the talk page of an article where a fictional character originates from that nation. Thus, we should not use it. - Whadup, it's ya girl, Dusa (talk) 21:08, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And where is the policy that states this? Dimadick (talk) 21:10, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There's no policy, but there's also no policy that says we can't put every single WikiProject on the talk page. WP:KOREA does not seem to deal at all with fictional Koreans, either, so it's strange to try to insist this be under their purview. For instance, looking at the GAs, few — if any — are of fictional Koreans. They either don't cover them, or don't find them interesting. - Whadup, it's ya girl, Dusa (talk) 21:18, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
More likely, nobody has searched for the articles. That is why we have so many articles that lack WikiProjects. But Category:Fictional Korean people is part of the WikiProject. Dimadick (talk) 21:23, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's far too distant a link. Juri is a character created by Japanese developers for games published worldwide. Every article in a related category certainly does not mean every Wikiproject should be added to it - having Wikiproject Korea for the category as a whole is fine but if that applied to every article within the category, we'd rapidly have every article having 20+ distantly related WikiProjects. Now, if Juri specifically had reception about how she was received in Korea, among real (not fictional) Koreans, as an unusually good / bad / interesting / etc. example of a Korean - then sure. But I don't believe that's supported by the article currently. In the same way, Colossus (character) is not part of WikiProject Russia (he's an American character in this reality, only a Russian in a fictional one), and the novel Amerika (novel) is part of WikiProject Germany, correctly.
Anyway, I think this is a larger issue than us - Dimadick, please show consensus somewhere that fictional characters of XYZ nationality should also be in Wikiprojects of that nationality. Can start a Village Pump discussion or a discussion at one of the Fiction-related Wikiprojects if such a discussion doesn't already exist. If there's a consensus that this should be done, I'll happily defer to it. SnowFire (talk) 21:32, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, it should be noted that while the category is under WP:KOREA, none of the characters in it are. - Whadup, it's ya girl, Dusa (talk) 21:34, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore furthermore, the WikiProject banner for WP:KOREA is there because an IP added it more than a decade ago. They were not a member of the project, but instead, someone who added nation WPs to this and similar categories. - Whadup, it's ya girl, Dusa (talk) 21:39, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You do not need to be a member of a WikiProject to add its banner. That would go against to the "anyone can edit" philosophy of Wikipedia. Dimadick (talk) 05:56, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In this, I agree, but you're not responding to the substance of the complaint - that regardless of who added that, a category being part of WikiProject XYZ absolutely does not imply every single article within that category should also be added to the same WikiProject. Lots of articles are indisputably part of a category but have only a passing relationship - someone who was born in Switzerland but moved away at age 2 might be in a Switzerland related category, but would be inappropriate for WikiProject Switzerland.
