Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that Europa Orbiter be merged into Jupiter Europa Orbiter. The results of the studies on the 'Europa Orbiter' were conducive to the 'Jupiter Europa Orbiter'. In other words, Europa Orbiter "evolved" into 'Jupiter Europa Orbiter'. Both articles are very closely related and are stubs, so a merger will benefit the reader. This proposal may return to the table[edit]

Europa Study 2012 Report
"The March 2011 Planetary Science Decadal Survey recommended that NASA should immediately undertake an effort to find major cost reductions for the proposed Jupiter Europa Orbiter mission, with the goal of minimizing the size of the budget increase necessary to enable the mission. To that end, NASA Headquarters promptly enlisted a new Europa Science Definition Team and directed them to examine a set of reduced-scope options for exploring Europa. Independent cost and technical reviews were to be performed on all study results. This report details the study team's results and the evaluation by independent review."

Also, in 13 January 2014, the House Appropriations Committee announced a new bipartisan bill that includes some funding to continue the Europa mission concept studies. (source: Girardot, Frank C. (14 January 2014). "JPL's Mars 2020 rover benefits from spending bill". Pasadena Star-News. Retrieved 2014-01-15.)

Seems like the Europa Clipper, Orbiter and Lander are concepts within the same proposal. Any way, this Jupiter Europa Orbiter proposal is still in force and receiving some seed money for studies. BatteryIncluded (talk) 20:32, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
