Factual accuracy disputed[edit]

The basis of this article seems to rest on a disputed historical source. Sullivan (1997) refutes the notion that this practice originated in Wales with Romani people. Perhaps we should let the academics slog this one out before coming down on one side or other of the debate? RashersTierney (talk) 21:59, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I tried to update the article with a link to Sullivan's article. George Peterson (talk) 02:45, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure how scholar Alan Dundes could qualify as a "disuputed historical source"? The Sullivan article you provided has now been included in this article. Article no longer states that the custom orginated among Romani people, but that it was practiced among them and might have originated among them (see the sources). Do you still consider the factual accuracy of this article to be disputed, and if so, what part?George Peterson (talk) 22:55, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
