Ancestry and notability[edit]

Could someone please explain to me why a persons ancestry is notable? A player is elgible to represent XXX country but wasn't ever selected to play. So? It's like listing every fringe NRL player as being eligible to play for Australia - but they never actually got there. Do we comb through every player's family tree to find out where granny was born? It's ridiculous.

And - unless a player actually represents for a country at international level (not a friendly) or was born in that country and has declared for that country (where the country actually has a national team, that is) then they aren't a [[Category:XXXX rugby league player]]  florrie  06:49, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
