Folks, can we please run our edits through a spell-checker before posting them? It's not that hard. Honest. Also, I will continue to add mention of negligence by AmerenUE if it is removed. It doesn't have to be legally declared by a judge to be obvious, and I have the FERC report listed as a reference. To the folks who keep removing the reference to AmerenUE's negligence: Do you work for them? Can we discuss this rather than unilaterally nuking one another's edits?[edit]

I quote this interesting snippet from the page on edit wars, which someone recommended I review once again:

"In general, communication is the key to avoiding conflict: follow Wikipedia:Editing policy#Talking and editing. Once it is clear that there is a dispute, avoid relying solely on edit summaries: discuss the matter on the article's talk page. The primary venue for discussing the dispute should be the article talk page, which is where a reviewing admin will look for evidence of trying to settle the dispute."

So, can we (and by we I mean people other than myself) engage in some discussion here? I must admit to thinking the argument used so far is somewhat specious, and have the feeling that my edit is intruding on someone (who is obviously well connected in the community, since I have never seen this much interest in this page) and their pet Wikipedia project, and that my version of this page does not agree with their master plan for their little corner of the wikipedia universe that they have claimed for themselves. Other than that, I'm not really sure what the problem might be. My edit stood for a year before being removed. I hope I'm not being cliched, but my edit contains the fifth "W" of the reporter's creed, namely "Why?". The article mentions the flood ("What"), it's an article about the Shut-Ins ("Who"), it mentions the date ("When"), geographical location is part of the article ("Where"), but it lacks a strong "Why". The cause is mentioned as a reservoir failure, why it failed is of much greater interest. My edit provides a direct link to the FERC report, and adds an almost inconceivably large sum of 7 words to the article, and one reference. To those who look upon Missouri state parks Wikipedia pages as their dominion - can you cut me seven letters of slack?

In any case I don't pretend to be the master of the English language, but can we try to do a little better when posting? I giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are acting in haste to remove my unconscionable seven-word edits, but please try to pay attention to what you are posting. I don't care how it sounds when it comes out of your mouth, but the word "but" is rarely if ever surrounded on both sides by commas. "Settlement" contains three of the letter "e". Funding a 52 million dollar restoration with 180 dollars does not make sense.

Thanks for the comma and $$ fixes. The article is about the state park and it mentions the dam disaster with a link to Taum Sauk pumped storage plant article where the details are fully discussed. To assess blame and add other details here would be in violation of WP:WEIGHT, simply not needed. Please assume good faith of your fellow editors and don't make accusations here.
