Untitled[edit]

WHat is the basis for the claim that he was sovereign Duke of Jülich and Cleves after 1679? My understanding was that he succeeded to all his father's title's on the latter's death in 1690. Even if he was acting as governor/regent in the north during his father's reign, that doesn't make him the sovereign of them. john k (talk) 06:30, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Correct picture[edit]

Is this the correct picture? The image name does not seem to match up. Jim1138 (talk) 09:37, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Did he have syphillis or not?[edit]

the article on his second wife, Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici, metnions that he had syphillis, preventing him from having children. Obviously he had 2 with his first wife, but they died in infancy. Is that lso related tot he syphillis, or just the Hapsburgs' poor health due to so much inbreeding over the years? Does this mean he only contracted syphillis after Maria Anna Josepha had her babies or that id didn't have it?

Admittedly this might be for the article on her, too, since it mentions it, but since it's about him I felt this was better asked here as a way to expand the article.108.75.254.113 (talk) 22:59, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
