WCPW Spam[edit]

I believe that the WCPW section is effectively spam, intended to promote WCPW not to cover Hendry. It is improperly sourced (no RS sources) and keeps on being added back. I can't remove it again today due to the 3RR but I would ask that other editors have a look at it and remove it if they agree with me. Thanks. --DanielRigal (talk) 22:16, 11 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to revert it again, once. If an uninvolved editor thinks this is wrong then they can revert me and I won't re-revert. If so, I'd be interested to know why. --DanielRigal (talk) 21:04, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 1 April 2023[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved. Move made by Sceptre with the following closing comment: I am suitably convinced that WP:PT1 outweighs WP:PT2 as regards to primacy of the topic. (closed by non-admin page mover)MaterialWorks (contribs) 11:17, 22 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

– per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. The wrestler is primary. [Pageviews here] --Etacarinaee (talk) 16:03, 1 April 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. {{ping|ClydeFranklin}} (t/c) 18:42, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support - nom makes sense. – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 18:19, 1 April 2023 (UTC)WP:SOCKSTRIKE ■ ∃ Madeline ⇔ ∃ Part of me ; 21:49, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • https://wikinav.toolforge.org/?language=en&title=Joe_Hendry shows that out of 54 views of Joe Hendry, 33 went to the wrestler (~61%). The footballer doesn't appear in the list as there was no source combo where he got more than 9 clicks. So the ratio is somewhere around 3:2, 3:1 in favor of the wrestler vs. the rest, which is indicative, but not really definitive because we don't know where all these other readers are going. A Google Books search for Joe Hendry doesn't seem to bring up either of these two people on the first page. Maybe the average reader isn't really primarily looking for this person? --Joy (talk) 12:06, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. An overwhelming primary topic. Station1 (talk) 03:48, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The top-tier footballer has just as much long-term significance. Being currently active (and therefore having an online presence) is not a criterion for notability. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:27, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Joseph Hendry dab? In ictu oculi (talk) 08:02, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My bad. Moving Joe Hendry to Joseph Hendry, and Joe Hendry (wrestler) to Joe Hendry might be a good method. --Etacarinaee (talk) 14:40, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Given they were both known as Joe Hendry this makes no sense. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:42, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agree a Joseph Hendry dab page makes no sense. But we could move the footballer to Joseph Hendry as WP:NATURAL disambiguation, and move the wrestler to Joe Hendry, with a hatnote on each pointing to the other. Or we could leave the footballer where he is and just move the wrestler to Joe Hendry. The dab page is unnecessary per WP:ONEOTHER and could be deleted. Station1 (talk) 06:42, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:COMMONNAME we use the name someone was known by (Joe), not a convenient natural disambiguator (Joseph). But I still maintain that the wrestler is not primary, so a disambiguation page is necessary. -- Necrothesp (talk) 08:50, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Looking at monthly pageviews, the wrestler has absolutely dominated the view totals ever since his article was created in June 2016. And this is despite the footballer holding the primary title! The footballer might have a slight edge in long-term significance, but not by enough to displace the wrestler from being the primary topic, in my opinion.
