First World War[edit]

WWI deserves its own section, with information on all relevant armies. Germany: Die Jüdischen Gefallenen des Deutschen Heeres, der Deutschen Marine und der Deutschen Schutztruppen (1932)

British Empire: British Jewry Roll of Honour (1922), page 4-5

  • "As far as existing records testify, some 50,000 Jews from the beginning to the end of the war were in some branch of His Majesty's Forces."
  • "Casualties: 334 officers fallen in action or died on active service; 2,091 non-commissioned officers and men fallen in action or died on active service; 6,500 wounded; total 8,925"
  • "5 Victoria Cross; 15 Order of St. Michael and St. George; 49 Distinguished Service Order, 263 Military Crosses; 11 Distinguished Flying Cross; 144 Order of the British Empire; 85 Distinguished Conduct Medals; 329 Military Medals."

Missing sources on the Ottoman Empire (Jews were conscripted, but there were also volunteers like Moshe Sharett), Austria-Hungary, Russian Empire, France, US and smaller nations (Bulgaria had some notable Jewish soldiers). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.178.29.88 (talk) 01:59, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

First Crusade[edit]

I have a small amount of material from scholarly sources that mention Jewish soldiers defending Jerusalem during the First Crusade. However, I fear it might be too small for its own section. How could we incorporate this into the article? --Ghostexorcist 19:32, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind. I noticed that some of the current entries were just as short or shorter than the info I have. I'll add it shortly. --Ghostexorcist 20:02, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Go ahead, short bits become the seeds of bigger and better articles. IZAK —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 05:07, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jews in military organizations[edit]

I'm curious if this article is just focused on organized military groups that were exclusively Jewish, or can it be broadened to include Jewish military leadership? What about anti-Semitism in the military? Articles about Jewish military leaders in the German, Russian and American military would be complex and interesting.
