Cause of Death[edit]

I read the Non-Commemorations thread (under Cemeteries and Memorials) on the Great War Forum regularly and came across mention of him. He was belatedly accepted by the CWGC for commemoration after investigation by the In From The Cold Project. He was not killed in action but, after serving in the Dardanelles at battle of Suvla Bay, he was discharged in January 1917 and tragically died by suicide on a railway line at Dalkey. I am unable to give a citation, the thread quoted a verbatim newspaper account of the inquest but did not name and date the newspaper. I give this as a lead for users who may know sources that also mention the circumstances of his death. Latest post says that Brett, who was buried in a family plot, will be receiving a CWGC headstone on his grave.Cloptonson (talk) 06:45, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
