Sarah Edmondson[edit]

While doing Internet research for this article, I came accross a website [1], which states that James Edmondson's daughter was involved in a crime spree with her boyfriend. which involved a murder and robbery in Mississippi, and a robbery and attempted murder in Louisiana, for which she is serving a 35 year sentence in a Louisiana prison. I am not sure if it is appropriate to include this information in the article, given the potential for NPOV disputes. I feel that a discussion is warranted before a decision to include or not include the information. --TommyBoy 10:30, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think, since it is factual, it does deserve at least a mention. I mean, the daughter of a famous political family in Oklahoma goes on a crime spree after watching a movie is significant enough to be mentioned. --NMajdantalk 18:41, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would be very careful before including something like this. It may be true but that doesn't necessarily mean it should be in the article. The most obvious problem is that it's not actually about him but about his daughter. It could end up smearing him by association and it would be very difficult to avoid that when writing about the incident. Any section including this should keep its focus on how it affected Edmondson himself. If it was a major incident in his public life then it is acceptable to include, if not then I wouldn't. Unless there was extensive news coverage at the time which concentrated on him rather than just the movie copycat aspect then I think it probably shouldn't be in the article. I do think a reference would be relevant and interesting in the Natural Born Killers article (if there isn't one already.) --Cherry blossom tree 21:00, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would be prefectly find to have the information, it fits into the policy so feel free to go ahead, cheers —Minun SpidermanReview Me 10:01, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As long as you feel it is relevant to the article. I would also try thesmokinggun.com to see if they have anything on it. ViridaeTalk 10:31, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That site appears to be a WP:RS, and as such, is not specifically prohibited by WP:BLP. I believe it is a relevent fact that some might wish to know, and thus merits inclusion. JBKramer 19:40, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This Crime Library page makes the father-daughter relationship clear, as does this page and this PDF. The latter two links are to legal documents, which also show that James [E.] Edmonson was sued (along with Stone, et al.) for damages due to Sarah's acts.
I think this shows adequate evidence of the relationship and of relevance (enough to be sued). Notoriety of Sarah seems well established by many references. There's plenty for a sentence or two about the connection (but a full description of the crime and controversy doesn't belong in this article). -R. S. Shaw 21:39, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have added the information after reviewing the discussion on this Talk page and applicable Wikipedia policies and guidelines. --TommyBoy 13:33, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
