The Day the Earth Stood Still

This is obviously the editor's opinion as it does not contain a source. Smith did not star in the movie, so its failure cannot be entirely blamed on him. In fact, this from The Day the Earth Stood Still critical response section: Claudia Puig of USA Today gave the film two stars and wrote in her review she felt the film was "musty and derivative" and thought its only bright spot was 10-year-old Jaden Smith's "engaging, lively performance". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.222.232.110 (talk) 23:58, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

In the section about the Karate kid section, it lists Jaden as being in the 1987 version of the karate kid (1987), and then links to the movie having been made in 1984. This section is clearly incorrect, and I have corrected the years. 66.214.36.192 (talk) 15:00, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

It might also be worth wikilinking Willow.

I do not understand the relevance of listing the dating habits of a 13 year old (or less). It just isn't important at all, unless name-dropping is important. Also, the article has a lot of repetition in it. The movies, videos, etc. he has done are listed multiple times. He is only 13, I just don't see the necessity of all the repetition.Mylittlezach (talk) 16:52, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

I move to delete all references to the "relationships" of a 14 year old. He's just a little boy at this point, listing so called romantic relationships at that age is pure speculation, and not in anyway relevant to the article. Editor "HopeEllisFan", how can you write something like "he's in a very good and happy relationship with Hope Ellis." with a straight face? Wikipedia is not a tabloid.

Out of Context Statements

In regards to the parenting comments in the "Personal Life" section regarding the elder Smith's parenting style that, "We generally don't believe in punishment. From the time Jaden was five or six we would sit him down, and all he has to do is be able to explain why what he did was the right thing for his life."

Those statements, taken alone, imply that Smith Sr. is the type of parent that allows his children to do anything they can justify, but the statement is out of context, and in context with the rest of the "Personal Life" section, everything else in there heavily implies the same. In truth, the remainder of the interview with Smith Sr. reads,

"I think it's a much more difficult question to ask someone - 'Why was that right?' - than to try to show them why it was wrong.

"Nobody wants to be wrong, all parts of yourself fight like crazy to not be wrong. So I’ll say to Jaden, 'Why was that the right thing to do for your life?' and if he can explain why kicking his sister in the chest was the right thing to do, we can see to it that he understands that it wasn’t so smart."

That seems to show a much more reasonable, and responsible, parenting approach. Placed into context with the rest of the information in the "Personal Life" section, those statements would radically alter the way the information is processed, and help the reader understand what Mr. Smith was actually talking about.

Full Disclosure: I have no love or hate for this kid either way, just a commitment to the truth. I used to be a journalist and now I'm an attorney, and I just wanted to check this page out to see what all the hate towards this kids was about because it seemed so odd for so much virulent hate to be focused towards an arrogant 16-year-old (--really, aren't all rich 16-year-olds arrogant? --Kidding.). I found the rest of the comments simply by clicking on the citation. No matter what this kid is actually guilty of, it's obvious that the above statements have placed out of context. I was going to edit the page to insert the rest of the comments, but I obviously can't, so if someone with a commitment to the facts would please insert the relevant remaining portions of the interview into the article, that would be great.

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zundman7301 (talkcontribs) 22:16, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

As a philosopher, Jaden Smith has said many deep and scholarly statements, and they are felt by many.
