 [edit]

I went to the same highschool as Boggs (at that time known by his original name Steve Litzner) though he was one year junior to me I think. He was a talented doodler. I remember that he was fond of writing his name in tiny letters in out-of-the-way places at the houses of his friend's parents, on a door jamb for example. His folks had a nice place with a pool, I attended a couple of fun parties there. I wouldn't have realized the connection with his persona as Boggs except that a mutual friend has kept up with him and pointed it out to me. Its interesting that he has achieved this notoriety, good for him! --Klaxton 18:41, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Any chance of getting sample images of his proposed US$? TrekphilerCanada15:26, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is spam. I'm just guessing based on the lack of supporting evidence and quoted source.

"Most recently he was arrested in September 2006 while wearing female attire and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and weapons violations."

There's another one up...
"History
Boggs was arrested Feb 21, 2007 on charges of possession of methamphetamines, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon. He also had warrants for his arrest on failure to appear in court charges."

I'm going to delete it now. --Dante 22:05, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Link to Tallahassee Democrat article is also dead. I'm killing it. -- Yamara 00:52, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely not spam. I remember reading it in the paper also. But I did dig up some more documentation, including his Leon County Jail mailing address in this link: artsociety.suite101.com/article.cfm/jsg_boggs_counterfeit_art. I'm going to add it back.

BLP violations[edit]

There are several BLP violations within this article (unsourced claims, etc). I'm removing them in accordance with policy/guideline. Before they are replaced reliable sources should be found and included in the article. Jasynnash2 (talk) 13:35, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Correction and suspicion[edit]

I corrected Smithsonian Institute to say Smithsonian Institution. But this whole article A) is very disorganized, and B) reads like most of it was written by Boggs himself. 140.147.236.195 (talk) 16:24, 11 August 2011 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza The article doesn't say anything about his many years in college. Did he graduate from Columbia University or anywhere else? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Belgrade Glendenning (talkcontribs) 19:29, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Date of death[edit]

https://news.artnet.com/art-world/jsg-boggs-money-artist-died-62-828554 says he died on Monday - which would be 23 January. But http://www.tampabay.com/news/obituaries/artist-jsg-boggs-known-worldwide-for-his-drawings-of-money-dies-in-tampa/2310740 says he died on 22 January. I would suspect the latter to be more accurate, as it seems to include more detail (i.e. the police being called to the hotel on Sunday), but without further / more reliable sources, it's difficult to resolve this. --David Edgar (talk) 21:55, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Some more sources are available giving 22 January now, so I think it's sensible to update the article. --David Edgar (talk) 00:02, 2 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
