Copyedit[edit]

I copyedited this page. "For a surprisingly long time" is bad. It should be "for X years". And why does it say "or Linda" at the end of the song list? --Milkbreath 21:52, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I simply made a starting article providing information for others to improve on. I know the grammar and structure of the article is terrible but that's just why you should make it better. It was harder then I thought it would be to find a biography of Mladek in English or Czech. I found the RadioKarolina link as a reference on the Czech wikipedia. Caps[edit]

Exactly what title are you referring to? I think you mean the recent edits on "Jožin z bažin - Joseph from the Swamps". The rules for capitalizing words in song titles seem to be different between Czech and English. I thought User:Kubek15 meant that words after the first that are proper nouns get capitalized, and others not. It seems to me that titles mentioned in their original language should use the rules for that language. User:Kubek15 fixed the Czech version, and I fixed the English version. I have been unable to find any guidance in the MoS or elsewhere in Wikipedia about capitalization in titles of foreign songs. The real-world stylebooks do it my way, and my own common sense tells me that if we are going to italicize and use all the diacritics, we should follow the capitalization convention, too. Italicization means "this is a foreign word"; the title italicized is not English, so it is exempt from our rules and should follow its own. Also "Jožin z bažin" is the title, and "Jožin z Bažin" is not. --Milkbreath (talk) 23:35, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd love to, but I don't know Czech, so I can't tell whether a word is a proper noun or not. I take that back, I know Praha when I see it. I also don't know the rules for capitalization in Czech except what I've been able to surmise from reading Czech-related articles.
