Comment moved from article[edit]

Isis Bridge was built in 1963-5. Opened in Narch 1965. It is not a single arch bridge. It is a three-span composite Steel and Reinforced concrete structure. I was the Bridge Engineer in charge of its construction, acting for Oxfordshire County Council by which I was employed. Preceding comment added to article by User:86.156.133.211

Said IP has since added info to the article in proper format, but we need refs for these statements. I have found three different dates of opening 1960, 1962 and 1965 from valid refs. Was the bridge perhaps completed in 1962 but not brought into use until the rest of the by pass was complete in 1965? Motmit (talk) 19:28, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm no engineer but it sure looks to be at least 3 spans not 1 in the photo with the two piers visble. Ed1964 (talk) 21:11, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

British Constructional Steelwork Association[edit]

I doubt BCSA designed or built it - they are a trade association, not a contractor, architect or consulting engineer. They might have given it a design award if it had been post 1969 but I have seen no source for that. Maybe derived from some sort of model design done by the BCSA. They definitely didn't build it though - that would need to be some sort of steelwork contractor. Ed1964 (talk) 11:01, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Number of spans[edit]

The article says one span though the source provided does not support that - other than quoting this very page! The infobox says three spans and the photo looks like at least three spans with the two piers visible. Something is afoot. Ed1964 (talk) 21:08, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
