Controversy[edit]

The ethical objection which is raised by IRD's critics was that the public did not know the source of the information and so could make allowances for the possible bias. It differd thus from straightforward propaganda for the British point of view.

Anti-Soviet Propaganda[edit]

The IRD was an innocuously named operation set up by the Labour government to produce and spread influential anti-communist propaganda throughout to British media and arts by planting fabricated stories among politicians journalists and others in a position to influence public opinion

Improper synthesis[edit]

I removed content in the section "Fabricated rape and pedophilia allegations". While reprehensible, the British army rapes in Cyprus are not connected to the IRD by sources - this is improper synthesis (WP:SYNTH). Fences&Windows 13:52, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's easy to get carried away when researching a topic you're interested in, BulgeUwU; sometimes we can forget what we know from the sources and what we've put together ourselves. Our touchstone is independent, secondary, reliable sources and sticking to what they say keeps our content encyclopedic. Thanks for your work on this article. Cite Check/NPOV/OR[edit]

Please see the AN/I thread here and in particular this diff. Long story short, this article has been extensively rewritten by an editor who has been less than careful about following above mentioned policy and probably needs to be gone through line by line to fix it. --RaiderAspect (talk) 07:36, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deeply Biased, this needs to be changed[edit]

The article mentions the British military in 'Ireland' in the 1970's. This is deeply biased they operated only in Northern Ireland. When I went to edited it I noticed 'pro-colonial propaganda in Ireland'. Being founded after ww2 this is ridiculous biased. Even if you believe Northern Ireland should The Republic of Ireland, ignoring the presence of the majority Unionist population is just bizarre! I haven't edited the entry due to the left-wing bias on wikipedia. I am hoping these facts means you can't ignore this and the changes will not be overturned.

Oh yes, I definitely agree. Even Animal Farm is described not as a satire, but as a notorious propaganda. But it is this page that reads like propaganda. But I am not sufficiently familiar with this subject to properly fix it. My very best wishes (talk) 23:48, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
