Splitting reincarnates from the Indianapolis ABCs article[edit]

I have initiated a proposal for several articles at Talk:St. Louis Stars (baseball)#Splitting reincarnates from the St. Louis Stars, Detroit Stars & Indianapolis ABCs articles. Feedback is requested. Suggested Edit re 1916 championship[edit]

Asked for citations on assertions that ABCs were 1916 champs. Seamheads Negro Leagues Database says Chicago American Giants were 1916 champs.[1] [2] If no source contradicting the Seamheads reports exists, an edit is necessary.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Thegooddogman (talkcontribs) 19:46, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Thegooddogman: Seamheads is sticking to the regular season, I believe. An exhibition was played betwixt Indy & CAG for the "Colored Championship of the West," won by Indy 4g-1g. I guess it depends on whether or not the series is recognized as an exhibition or a title series. I'm inclined to recognize Indy as the champ since both rosters appear to have retained their top talent and in that era no game was taken lightly by the players. YMMV. Here is the source from The Center for Negro League Baseball Research (CNLBR) see pp. 12-13. Rgrds. --64.85.216.132 (talk) 14:38, 15 September 2016 (UTC) Thanks for the input. I added the citation you provided. The doc you cited does show that the ABCs claimed to be champions in both 1915 and 1916. That said, YMMV no doubt, I am not sure a consensus exists with regard to how much weight this 1916 postseason series carried. Anyway, thanks for your contributions; I like to see more NLB material on wikis.[reply]
