Untitled[edit]

I don't think the title of this album is "(III)". People started calling it that when Crystal Castles used that on their Facebook page, but I think they were just making it clear that they were referring to their third album. On their official website http://crystalcastles.com/releases/ their three albums are referred to as "(I)", "(II)", and "(III)", but no one thinks their first two albums are literally called "(I)" and "(II)". It's just a stylistic choice because they're all self-titled, so that's how they differentiate them. On iTunes, the albums are called "Crystal Castles", "(II)", and "(III)". And on Wikipedia they're called "Crystal Castles (2008 album)", "Crystal Castles (2010 album)", and "(III)". So something has to be wrong. I don't know why they would release two self-titled albums, and then give one a kind of half-title. 98.220.45.154 (talk) 18:48, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request to move article to "Crystal Castles (2012 album)"[edit]

This is a self-titled album. It's not called "(III)". Clardak (talk) 18:55, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, it appears as "(III)" in each source (For instance, Pitchfork and NME). Also the official website of the band refers it as (III), which is even enough for justification by itself. - Myxomatosis75 (talk) 19:55, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Their official website also refers to their first two albums as "(I)" and "(II)" respectively. Should those articles be renamed? Obviously not. Some website saw a post on Crystal Castles' facebook page and mistakenly thought that the name of the album was literally "(III)", and other sources followed suit. Wikipedia should be consistent. Either rename this article, or rename the other two. Clardak (talk) 00:21, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, both Consequence of Sound and Paste clarify in their reviews that this album, like the previous two, is self-titled, and "(III)" is merely a designation agreed on for clarity. 155.33.109.143 (talk) 15:10, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved to Crystal Castles I, Crystal Castles II, and Crystal Castles III. It is a little bold to move the two previous Crystl Castles articles under the auspices of this RM, since they were not linked to it. Having said that, the need for consistency is obvious and compelling, and no objections to the suggested naming convention were here raised in the eleven days since its proposal. (III)Crystal Castles (2012 album) – untitled album for consistency with Crystal Castles (2008 album) and Crystal Castles (2010 album), or alternatively, if I, II, III are proved by reliable sources to be the titles, then move this to: III (Crystal Castles album) and move the other two to I (Crystal Castles album) and II (Crystal Castles album). Either way present title stylization of III clashes with en.wp titling WP:MOSTM and needs consistency with other articles I and II. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:11, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Strong rename to something. "(III)" is a typographic convention used to represent three in several different formats, so should redirect to the disambiguation page. -- 65.94.171.126 (talk) 07:10, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: What about Crystal Castles, Crystal Castles II, and Crystal Castles III? This way, we avoid the awkward parentheses and incorporate the Roman numerals at the same time. This is akin to how the early Chicago albums are distinguished, for example. Dralwik|Have a Chat 22:29, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No great objection but Crystal Castles is the dab page with Crystal Castles (video game) etc, so the album I has to be Crystal Castles I if that's how we're doing it. In ictu oculi (talk) 15:16, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'll support that. Dralwik|Have a Chat 01:36, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Definitely support something. "(III)" is a really bad title. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 07:19, 22 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
