We have that on at least one list; maybe they are the same place: I suspect Humboldt "City" (an optimistic, or fraudulent, assessment of how much it would grow?) *was* in Humboldt County before Pershing County was created by splitting off Humboldt County's less developed & still sparse, but maybe finally growing portion, and that folk still look for "Humboldt" in Humboldt County bcz nearly all mention of it dates from when Humboldt "City" was in Humboldt County (and perhaps more often and more realistically called just "Humboldt", incorporation papers and/or newspaper masthead be damned). Research could sustain, or sink, that theory. --Jerzy•t 10:05, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
