I noticed that the houppelande page did not have references to any online information. My wife, Cynthia virtue, has done original research on the construction of houppelandes, by examining primary sources (tapestries, statues, and manuscripts), and has created her own theory on how houppelandes were constructed. She has created houppelandes based on this theory, and published her results in an article on her Web page (including directions on how to construct a houppelande). Her work has been well-received in the SCA, and contributed to her recognition with the Order of the Laurel. So, in the hope of being useful to Wikipedia readers, I added a link to her page.

Naturally, I recognize that I may be biased here. My position is that the link is useful, and does not detract from the (virtually empty) page. If there were a houppelande article here, perhaps written by a more widely recognized expert, then the link would be less important. Failing that, I believe it's a reasonable contribution--but, if someone prefers to remove it, I will not contest the point.

I think that's a perfectly fine link. I have moved it from references to a new external links section. We have links to costume research by SCA members in many other places in Wikipedia. Although original research should not appear in Wikipedia, linking to original research that is well-documented is (IMHO) good practice. - PKM 17:44, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
