Proposed Oriental Orthodoxy project[edit]

There is now a new proposed project at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Oriental Orthodoxy for a group which would focus on articles relating to the Oriental Orthodox Church. Any individuals interested in working with such a group should indicate as much there, to allow us to know if there is enough support to actually begin such a project. Thank you. Move to Holy See of Cilicia[edit]

It is good form to open a discussion on the talkpage before making a unilateral move. Is Catholicossate of the Great House of Cilicia a better name than Holy See of Cilicia? The former may in fact be the official designation but may not be the most common name. I am not at the moment in disagreement with the move but would appreciate an explanation. Would the moving editor please offer his rational? Aramgar (talk) 21:15, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Their website calls it that, with only one S though. I don't really know either way. Adam Bishop (talk) 03:12, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Holy See of Cilicia (in Armenian Kilikio Sourp Ator) has never been and is never an official designation and is very colloquial at best. Some even use it as a detrimental reference in their daily conversation and usage of the term is considered very disrespectful when addressing the catholicosate in any official or even semi-official manner. The official name is clear: Catholicossate of the Great House of Cilicia (Կաթողիկոսութիւն Հայոց Մեծի Տանն Կիլիկիոյ). The move made a great disservice to official name of the catholicosate werldwayd (talk) 15:37, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Since it is the heading on their official website I don't think we need to worry - WP:COMMONNAME. Johnbod (talk) 16:19, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
