Microcontroller?[edit]

Isn't it a microcontroller? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.81.137.4 (talk) 19:56, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on how it's used whether you could call it a microcontroller, but when this was produced it was considered and used as a CPU.--KJRehberg (talk) 17:56, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A microcontroller has always been an I/O system on a chip: a microprocessor with RAM, at least one peripheral (timer, serial port etc) and with most of its pins available as programmable I/O (rather than dedicated to accessing memory). The HD64180 has no internal RAM or ROM and a large number of its pins can only be used for memory access. So I'd say it's definitely not a microcontroller. It's more like the 80186/80188 embedded microprocessors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.93.164.28 (talk) 11:31, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

When was this processor released? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.86.17.25 (talk) 01:13, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
