Price of Silver Chart[edit]

What is the price of silver being listed in? Pence per troy ounce? What is the exchange rate? Rupees per pound? It needs to be clarified Nik42 06:02, 5 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Merger with Rupee[edit]

I think the fact that there's a specific page for the history of the rupee is a little unnecessary, since the original rupee article doesn't seem long enough to be split off into pages about categories such as "History". Plus, and I supoose this is a minor complaint, but the addition of "History of the rupee" seems to add an enormous amount of white space to the rupee template. Merger with Rupee[edit]

This article is the history of the Indian Rupee. Instead of merging with Rupee which has rupees of other countries, I suggest this article be merged with Indian Rupee.--PremKudvaTalk 09:41, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

rupee versus Rupee[edit]

Rupee is a name of a currency. The word Rupee used in the title and elsewhere in the article should be in title case, Rupee and not rupee. -Vivek 221.134.214.7 21:03, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rupee is a unit of measurement, therefore should not be capitalized unless it's the first word of a sentence. Non-currency units have been decapitalized too, even where they are derived from a proper noun. Indian "Rupees"[edit]

Can someone create new sections on the Bombay Rupee, Calcutta Rupee, Surat Rupee, Murshidabad Rupee, Sonaut Rupee, Madras Rupee, Farooqabad Rupee and Arcot Rupee?Anwar (talk) 15:51, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[1][reply]

Throughout the 19th century, the gold coinage was of the same weight and fineness as the silver but the ratio between gold and silver was liable to be varied from time to time by Government proclamation.

decimalisation[edit]

The British pound underwent decimalisation in 1972, so the statement "At the end of 1969, the Indian Rupee was trading at around 13 British Pence. A decade later, by 1979, it was trading at around 6 British Pence. Finally by the end of 1989, the Indian Rupee had plunged to an all-time low of 3 British Pence." needs clarification. Valuation history[edit]

The section titled Valuation history states that a) The Indian Rupee was pegged to the British Sterling from 1926 to 1966 at INR 13.33 to 1 Pound; and that b) the USD/INR exchange rate was 1 in 1947. Given that the British pound was pegged at $4.03 in 1947, a) and b) are contradictory. I suggest removing the valuation history section until more reliable data is available. It's better to say nothing than to say something that's clearly incorrect reinforcing the notion that Wikipedia is unreliable. Malatinszky (talk) 05:20, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Anna’s and paisa[edit]
