Is this the 1862 International Exhibition (aka Great London Exposition) or The Great Exhibition of 1851? Colonies Chris (talk) 14:01, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. I'll check to be sure. hjuk (talk) 17:20, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was the former. Article corrected and linked. Thanks for spotting this one. hjuk (talk) 18:34, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copt Hall[edit]

In the 1786 map at the Wikipedia page

Image:Map- Stroud Green, London 1786.jpg

a building called Copt Hall is shown south of Hornsey Wood. Is this the same as Haringey house?

Ucypanp (talk) 13:26, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's the same as Hornsey Wood tavern. Harringay House stood at the top of the Hill between present-day Allison & Hewitt Roads. (If you read the section in this article on Hornsey Wood house, and of the linked article dealing with the previous period it mentions Copt Hall and its origins as the manor house of Brownswood Manor). Hornsey Wood occupied much of what is now Finsbury Park.

I believe I have seen part of the Harringay House. I use to live in a building next to Hewitt Road. The building has a basement. The basement is about 4 feet high. On one of the sides of the basement there is an old and big fireplace, very nice fire place if I remember well decorated with tiles. The fireplace clearly is buried about half up to its full height, which means half of the fireplace is in the ground. The wall that the fireplace is attached is part of the wall of the new building now. The building official built in 1900. It looks like the new building used at least part of the foundations of the Harringay House! 93.96.158.207 (talk) 00:15, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Very interesting. Any chance of sharing the address? hjuk (talk) 14:20, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
