Might want to mention that the US isn't the only army with a histoty of doing this.Geni 01:51, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well right now the article is about "hillbilly armor" ie. American improvised vehicle armor - not improvised vehicle armor in general. heqs 17:43, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW I'm hoping to give the article a slightly more academic tone with some new references I came across... stay tuned. heqs 17:48, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It certainly does seem to be time for an update. DGG 04:23, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure when I will get around to this. There's no lack of documentation on the subject if you want to go ahead and work on it. heqs ·:. 11:50, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe a re-title to the above mentioned "Improvised vehicle armour" with "hill billy armour" as a modern incarnation is in order. Off hand I can think of the Btitish Army putting sections of chain link fence on their APC's to act as stand off protection against RPGs in the 70s, the Nazis doing much the same with thin sheet metal add ons against early HEAT rounds. In fact the ancestors of modern armoured vehicles the pre first world war armoured cars could be said to have used improvised armourKoonan the almost civilised 23:38, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as you can see, this is an article about "hillbilly armor". Ideally the article tree/parentage would be something like vehicle armorimprovised vehicle armorhillbilly armor. heqs ·:. 18:29, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Abbreviated answer by Rummy[edit]

Ummmm... is there a particular problem someone had in locating the entire question and answer exchange between Rummy, his colleague, and the soldier? The chopped up version presented makes him seem callous, indifferent and unconcerned with the problem. I can go to the defenselink page and pull it up if you don't do "the google"... It ends when he talks about uparmoured humvees not being at the pentagon any more and the troops cheer. They don't hate the guy you know. Batvette (talk) 09:43, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
