the author didn´t walk the camino, as stated in the article. The story has little to do with the real pilgrimage. Please correct this.... the author walked the camino only partially, slept in nice hotels and didn´t get it. Only people who didn´t walk yet like the book (partially) and real pilgrims have to suffer from a lot of fakepilgrims like hape these days. It´s a pitty...

The Camino de Santiago is not a single route, but a whole network of them (pilgrims start from various places), and the length of time spent walking the Camino also varies considerably (for various reasons). In order to get a certificate, four days will suffice. Who can know who is a "fake" pilgrim and who is a real one? A person might walk all the way across Europe, stay only in albergues, etc., and yet persist in judging others, like the Pharisee in the gospel story. --Dawud
