Incorrect information[edit]

Julius Hay did not escape from hungary in 1956, but he was sentenced to 6 Years in November 1957, he came out of prison after 3 1/2 Years, end left Hungary for Switzerland in 1965 with his wife Eva. The German version says he was one of the people who were 'involved' before the Hungarian uprising. These people are not always arrested immediately; it all took a while to shake out. I believe the uprising was later in 1956, so then it was put down, then came the regime change and by 1957 - or so it looks - they finally got around to arrest the intellectuals who had been instrumental in preparing the ground. The German page says he was released from prison in 1960, so that figures. It is a pity that his play "Have" has been kind of forgotten. I remember seeing it = "Haben" on late night German TV maybe in 1970. It was one of those experiences that stick in your mind forever.
