Torah de Bible[edit]

I am a direct decendent of Guillaume Postel: he would be a sixth generation grandfather to my family. I have the family bible of his bloodline which is actually called the "Torah de Bible". It is very different from a normal modern bible as it has no "Revelations", but instead has the "Zohar", extra proverbs, book of "Mary" (Magdaline) and the book of "Sarah" which is seperate and is in French rather than Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic like the rest of the book. Our entire bloodline is handwritten in the book and shows our emigration to Canada and to USA. My family follows a traditional Jewish and Christian heritage that we have not understood until the recent discovery of the internet. The book has many different refences to dates, the earliest that I have found so far being 1532. The entire book is wriiten by hand by three different distinctive handwritings in four and possibly five languages; Greek, Arimaic, Hebrew, and an unknown.

Animus and Anima[edit]

"According to Postel the Trinity made man in Its image and Its likeness. The human body is dual and its triadic unity is through the union of the two halves. The human soul is also dual; it is animus and anima*, or intellect and emotion; the male being resident in the head and the female in the heart. Redemption must also be dual; the generosity of the heart must rescue the egoistic barrenness of the brain. Religion is understood by the majority as superstition based in fear. Those who profess it have not the woman-heart, because they are foreign to the divine enthusiasms of that mother-love which explains all religion. The power that has invaded the brain and binds the spirit is not that of the good, understanding and long-suffering God; it is wicked, imbecilic and cowardly. So it comes about that there is far more fear of the devil than love for the Divine. The frozen and shriveled brain weighs on the dead heart like a tombstone. What an awakening will it be for understanding, what a rebirth for reason, what a victory for truth, when the heart shall be raised by grace!

I don't believe that "Eliphas Levi" is a reliable source on the life and philosophy of Postel. Levi was interested in justifications for his version of "magic" and sought respectable antecedents, in the way similar Rosicrucian-inspired movements claimed Isaac Newton and Leonardo daVinci as members. As a source, he must be taken with, at the very least a grain of salt. Further, and more importantly, Levi's gloss and commentary on Postel is presented in the article as verbatim text from Postel, which it is not. I think this can be remedied by 1. moving this quotation to later in the article, in a section talking about Postel's influence on occultism, 2. calling out in the body of the article that this text is Levi's and 3. comparing it and contrasting it with modern scholarly opinions.Ddama (talk) 21:09, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
