London Soutbank Uni??[edit]

Is this a joke?

If it is a joke it is in the original source. To quote "Graduates of elite universities are over-represented amongst their ranks, especially from Oxford, City, Kings College London, LSE, Cambridge, Bristol, London South Bank, Imperial College and Trinity College Dublin". Voodoo poll[edit]

Based on 160000 visitors to a website who chose to respond, then 'balanced' by 1000 people properly selected? What is this nonsense? Scientifically, this is JUNKUnraed (talk) 20:31, 21 November 2016 (UTC)unraed[reply]

Described themselves as white[edit]

The whole thing is a joke, surely? Jiver2 (talk) 12:28, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Needs more analysis, and explanation[edit]

I think this article needs more information about how and why these categories were chosen, and why they were seen as significant. Some of the terms also need better definition - I'm not sure if "technical meddle-class" is supposed to mean "people who are technically middle-class, but don't fit the traditional concept very well", or "middle-class people in technical jobs". Also, 'most of whom lived in England and described themselves as "white"' needs better explanation. Most people in Britain live in England, and most people in Britain are white, so that statement doesn't seem notable, unless it means disproportionately - in which that should be stated. But the article doesn't expand on that, and looking at the actual report, I see nothing about race, and nothing about the proportion from England. Finally, there really needs to be some discussion of the response to this - are the findings seen as useful /flawed / revelatory /etc? Was the method of correcting for the sampling bias effective? Etc. Iapetus (talk) 16:11, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
